Drinking Champagne, Can It Really Prevent Dementia?

In the past few years, there has been an abundance of advice on ways to reduce the risk of Dementia and Alzheimers, provided by a selection of research. With all this information out there, it can make it difficult to derive between what we can and cannot really believe.

One recent article by Reading University states that research has shown that drinking champagne could improve memory, by delaying degenerative brain disorders, such as Alzheimers and Dementia.

The research, based on an experiment on rats carried out by scientists at the University of Reading, discovered that the two red grapes; Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, that Champagne derives from, have high levels of phenolics. These particular compounds have been found responsible for the positive effects on the brain.

The research suggested that drinking three glasses of champagne every week could potentially slow memory loss, increase memory and decrease the risk of brain diseases. The scientists hope to continue the experiment, by involving pensioners next.

Hallelujah you say! Let’s get the champagne out and start celebrating! Who wouldn’t want to indulge in a few glasses of champagne every week?! We do however back the drink responsibly campaign!

Unfortunately, although this is one of many preventions; a very pleasurable one at that, there is currently no cure for Dementia or Alzheimers.

Here at Bakare, we understand that living and dealing with Dementia can be incredibly frustrating, leading to the individual experiencing a variety of negative feelings, taking effect on their social and psychological consciousness.

We acknowledge this and have therefore created a product that ensures that people living with Dementia can be comfortable and retain their independence. We believe that gradually making small changes can really have a positive effect on a person living with Dementia and in turn assist in retaining a relationship with the people around them, making a big difference on their quality of life.

Introducing, the Dementia Low Bed. Ensuring that people feel safe and secure, this bed specifically designed for people with Dementia has padded headboards, side rails and footboards. The bed can be lowered to a height of 25cm (excluding mattress) to significantly reduce the impact of falling out of the bed.

The Dementia Low Bed is just one small change, but can make a huge difference to the quality of life of a loved one living with Dementia.
