Battersea Place is the first luxury retirement community concept to hit London and promises residents an unparalleled experience.
In talking with Ainslie Sutherland (General Manager for Battersea Place) I was impressed with her commitment to both the choice and the quality of care for her residents. Battersea Place are offering 30 purpose-built nursing suites which offer the perfect environment for patients in need of short-term convalescence, post-operative care, long-term nursing and palliative care. In each of these nursing suites are beds, mattresses and furniture that have been supplied by BaKare Beds. I had the opportunity to talk to Ainslie at length about her experience with BaKare Beds.
Built To Last
Ainslie first learnt about BaKare Beds in the form of a strong and positive recommendation from colleagues at Somerleigh Court (a retirement village in Dorset). When Ainslie saw the 8 year old beds in situ she was remarkably impressed with how pristine the beds looked and also encouraged by the detailed accounts that were relayed to her by individuals that used the beds day in and day out.
“The delivery team were amazing in the way they worked around us.
Nothing was a problem and I was unaware that they were there.
They were lovely people as well and enhanced the environment,
it was such a smooth process.”

Demonstrations Without The Sale pitch
Ainslie’s next encounter with BaKare was through a demonstration of the Volker 3080 and the Evolution 400 by Mark Bush (Technical & Services Manager). Ainslie recalls this demonstration ‘Mark was not pushy, he wasn’t using sales talk, he was knowledgeable and calmly talked through the benefits and features of the beds. He talked through all of the options from the patient hand control through to the comfort seat position, Mark was fantastic’.
Impeccable Customer Experience
Ainslie was assigned an experienced Account Manager in the form of Karen Nancollis. Ainslie talked about her interactions with Karen ‘It was a journey and Karen came along on this journey. Karen was warm, knowledgeable, willing to help with anything, got back to me when she said she would and never pestered me. She was patient when we had to modify the order and it was never a chore when we were refining the products and accessories.’
Installation with a Smile
From having a demonstration of the beds to the day of the Installation took just over a year. The Installation day can be stressful for both the supplier and customer alike, however Ainslie said ‘the delivery team were amazing in the way they worked around us. Nothing was a problem and I was unaware that they were there. They were lovely people as well and enhanced the environment, it was such a smooth process.’
Ainslie’s final thoughts were extremely positive:
‘It’s the most positive experience I have had so far. Beds are so important to well-being, it’s a huge responsibility to buy someone’s bed as sleep is integral to well-being and repair. I would recommend BaKare in a heartbeat.’
