Who are BaKare?
BaKare (pronounced ‘Bay – Care’) have been supplying adjustable beds, adjustable bed mattresses and mobility products to thousands of satisfied customers for 20 years.

BaKare was conceived in 1989 when managing director John Baker’s uncle, suffering from Multiple Sclerosis, moved to Cornwall, which led to John developing the first BaKare Bed. John was later approached by the German company Volker to import their prestigious range of healthcare beds, which were a breakthrough in care bed design at the time. With his direct experience of the problems of his customers, and with the benefit and help of his wife Wendy (who was a nurse), Johns collaboration with Volker contributed to many of the unique features of the Volker bed program of today.
The Volker healthcare beds have a unique appearance making them suitable for clients who require an adjustable bed, but do not like the look of traditional hospital or divan style beds. The homely appearance is gained from using veneer and solid wood wooden laminate finishes, with a complimentary range of matching bedroom furniture to match.
The Volker beds are not just suitable for people within their own homes however. With conformance to UK/EU safety requirements, and suitability to multi-occupancy environments, they are used within several high quality care homes.
BaKare’s products can be assessed at our assessment centres in Sheffield and Plymouth and also at DLC / DLF centre’s nationwide.
BHTA / OFT
BaKare Beds are members of the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA). Implementing BHTA’s OFT approved (Office of Fair Trading) code of practice demonstrates a desire to run a business in the most ethical and professional way.
The BHTA codes of conduct have been implemented by BaKare Beds for many years – BaKare’s reputation for high customer care was built upon practices such as the OFT code of conduct.

We will always try to make sure that our staff are well trained, and will do our utmost to make sure you are assessed and advised correctly. We also actively encourage using an occupational therapist for assessments and demonstrations.
We provide dedicated assessment centres in Plymouth and Sheffield with access for those with disabilities.
When you purchase one of our products, we will send 2 engineers to deliver it to where your desired location, assemble it in position, verify that it is working correctly and train the necessary people on how to use it correctly
Our products are fully backed up by our dedicated in house support staff and a nationwide network of service engineers who carry an extensive range of spares and are able to attend on site if required.
Our qualified engineer telephone response is within 12 hours of the fault being reported 365 days a year. Nationwide qualified engineer attendance and repair of products is within 36 hours as an emergency call out, and 5 working days as a standard call out.
All BaKare products are covered by a full call out, parts and labour guarantee for 12 months from the date of purchase. As an additional service to all of our customers, BaKare also offers a FREE 2 year parts guarantee, giving you additional protection. Extended warranties are also available.

BaKare aim to transfer the risk of your purchase from yourself to us. That means that through every step of the way, BaKare’s staff try to make sure that the product you purchase is correctly specified (and we also encourage the use of your occupational therapist where possible).
Most of our customers are delighted with the products & service provided by BaKare, but we are aware that even with the greatest efforts taken to specify the correct product, you may feel that it’s not quite suitable after a couple of nights sleep. If that is the case, please notify us within 7 days of delivery, and we will offer a refund or exchange and arrange to collect your bed should you be anything less than satisfied.
Simple Terms & Conditions for 7 Day Money Back Guarantee: Please notify us within 7 days of delivery. This applies to all stock items and excludes bespoke or special orders, such as high care cots and recliner chairs. This also excludes mattresses for hygiene reasons, however our Medi-Pro range of mattresses can be modified easily after purchase.

Our Products
Our products are all manufactured within the EU or UK, and all new BaKare beds conform to EU / UK legal & safety requirements (in particular, BS EN 1970), and come with a 2 year parts warranty as standard. Our mattresses are stringently tested and fully meet fire regulations BS7177:1996.

BaKare and the Environment
We all have a duty to protect the environment. Our Volker electric beds consume no energy when not moving into position and are constructed using 95% recyclable material. After a long working life we will take back any bed or mattress originally sold by BaKare Beds Ltd and recycle it in an environmentally friendly manner.
