Naidex Volker Vis-a-Vis Wins the Acclaim @ Naidex

Following two days of voting by visitors and exhibitors, the Volker Vis-a-Vis Care Bed was deemed the most innovative disability product on show this year and has been awarded the New Product of the Year Award.

Renowned within the disability, homecare and rehabilitation industry for its widespread kudos, the Naidex New Product of the Year Award has again showcased the ‘best of the best’. The Vis-a-Vis was selected via an interactive voting station from the vast array of shortlisted products in the New Product Gallery which all excelled in terms of design, quality and innovation.

Liz Virgo, Naidex Event Manager, Emap Connect commented, “We are absolutely delighted that Bakare Beds Ltd has taken this year’s award. Its Vis-a-Vis represents a shining example of the innovation we are currently witnessing within disability product design. Considering the dramatic difference this product will hopefully make to many peoples’ lives, Bakare Beds Ltd fully deserves this award and we congratulate them on such an outstanding product.”

The Volker vision is to enable all people in need of care to live their life as independently as possible. Volker promotes this philosophy with the beds' functions, which meet care giving requirements by allowing clients to care for themselves through the use of technology.

The Vis-a-Vis continues this tradition by allowing more than just an increase in mobility of clients – it allows for active independence. Commonly, clients who are unable or choose not to leave their beds are not entirely immobile. Often, more mobility is possible if the bed can be adjusted in such a manner that it forms a seat in which patients’ feet can be placed firmly on the floor.

The "stand-up stimulus" is initiated by the correct sitting position, the lowering of the thigh section and the raising of the head section of the bed. Assisted transfers are improved by the carer providing assistance from the front of the bed instead of the side as on conventional beds.

Client interaction is facilitated face to face ‘vis-a-vis’ using the bottom section of the bed.
