Kidz South 2011 8/6/11

Images below from Kidz South at Reading, June 2011. Thanks to all who visited our stand. Another very successful show with good interest in the Klearside bed and the new Starlight cot. Only dampener on the day was the power cut forcing the show to close early.

Volker bed delivery

Delivery of Volker beds to our warehouse this morning (25/5/11):

Opting for Volker beds

Over the past twelve months, three university hospitals in North Rhine, Germany have placed orders for hospital beds with Volker. The university hospital in Essen ordered 1,000 beds in October 2009. In March 2010, Volker received another 1,000 bed order from the university hospital in Bonn. The university hospital in Münster opted for Volker beds in January and placed an order for 300 beds. All three customers are among the largest and most successful full service hospitals, providing cutting-edge medical care and putting excellent nursing at the forefront.

All three hospitals only opted for Volker after long trials, extensive comparisons and a comprehensive selection process. The decisive factor was always the contribution Volker beds could make to optimise all nursing processes:

  • Support
  • Relief
  • Simplification
  • Self-mobilisation

The university hospital in Bonn considers its mission to be a top qualified service provider for all its patients and nursing as a higher education mission with an attendant process of change. If such a facility opts for Volker beds, we assume that despite the extra initial outlay, they are finding value added features and long term reliability does indeed pay off.

The Pope Gives An Audience With Volker

Pope Benedict XVI was given an audience with Mr Heinrich Volker, chairman of Volker AG. We feel this honour as recognition of Volker’s work and appreciation of its corporate philosophy. This philosophy is based entirely on the Volker Care Concept, which focuses on the individual demands and different expectations of people who need care as well as their carers, with the guiding principle being:  "Every person has a right to be treated with respect and dignity, especially people in need of care. "

Mr Volker Meets the Pope

Bischof Zimowski, President of the Pontifical Council for Pastoral Assistance to Health Care blessed the Volker Vis-a-Vis bed along with Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone acting Secretary of State Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Naidex Volker Vis-a-Vis Wins the Acclaim @ Naidex

Following two days of voting by visitors and exhibitors, the Volker Vis-a-Vis Care Bed was deemed the most innovative disability product on show this year and has been awarded the New Product of the Year Award.

Renowned within the disability, homecare and rehabilitation industry for its widespread kudos, the Naidex New Product of the Year Award has again showcased the ‘best of the best’. The Vis-a-Vis was selected via an interactive voting station from the vast array of shortlisted products in the New Product Gallery which all excelled in terms of design, quality and innovation.

Liz Virgo, Naidex Event Manager, Emap Connect commented, “We are absolutely delighted that Bakare Beds Ltd has taken this year’s award. Its Vis-a-Vis represents a shining example of the innovation we are currently witnessing within disability product design. Considering the dramatic difference this product will hopefully make to many peoples’ lives, Bakare Beds Ltd fully deserves this award and we congratulate them on such an outstanding product.”

The Volker vision is to enable all people in need of care to live their life as independently as possible. Volker promotes this philosophy with the beds' functions, which meet care giving requirements by allowing clients to care for themselves through the use of technology.

The Vis-a-Vis continues this tradition by allowing more than just an increase in mobility of clients – it allows for active independence. Commonly, clients who are unable or choose not to leave their beds are not entirely immobile. Often, more mobility is possible if the bed can be adjusted in such a manner that it forms a seat in which patients’ feet can be placed firmly on the floor.

The "stand-up stimulus" is initiated by the correct sitting position, the lowering of the thigh section and the raising of the head section of the bed. Assisted transfers are improved by the carer providing assistance from the front of the bed instead of the side as on conventional beds.

Client interaction is facilitated face to face ‘vis-a-vis’ using the bottom section of the bed.
